Concorde Print & Media, a creative print & media studio in downtown Chicago, will be installing custom vinyl window graphics on Macy’s storefront at 111 N. State Street in early November. As the first retailer to create celebratory seasonal window displays, Macy’s continues their popular tradition of welcoming all guests to their 54th annual holiday window unveiling. Concorde Print & Media will begin installation on November 3rd, with a press-attended reveal scheduled for Friday, November 4th (weather permitting).
This year’s festive design features hand-cut snowflakes out of 6mm premium white Canon vinyl bordered by large blue gradient panels, with all print and installation services provided by Concorde. The interior display created by Macy’s team will showcase winter scenes brought to life with lights, animation, original 3D models and plenty of surprises.
Compared with last year’s graphics, the colors are more vivid, with more intricate design details. Concorde’s production team made use of specialized techniques including masking for custom graphic application and careful weeding of standalone elements for a flawless end result.
With main windows measuring 12 feet tall by 14 feet wide, the 2021 holiday display will occupy all 7 Macy’s windows on State Street between Randolph and Washington. To ensure a cohesive look for a project of this scope, Concorde Print & Media is working closely with Macy’s own creative team as well as designers from the New York headquarters.
“We’re honored to be partnering with Macy’s for the third time and excited to share the results of everyone’s hard work”
Concorde was originally recruited by another marketing agency to provide printing support for Macy’s holiday window project back in 2019. The team faced a lot of issues that year, including bad weather, scaffolding difficulties and delays in approval. Concorde’s staff worked quickly and efficiently with the resources at hand, determined to provide a successful, on-time installation. The following year, Macy’s contacted Concorde directly to be the sole provider.
Iva Sinkova, owner and president of Concorde, enjoys collaborating with clients on projects of all sizes. “We’re honored to be partnering with Macy’s for the third time and excited to share the results of everyone’s hard work,” says Sinkova, “It’s such a wonderful opportunity to spread some holiday cheer and connect with the people in our community.”
At this time, Macy’s is the only client Concorde works with on special holiday window graphics, but they embellish plenty of high-profile panes year round. Concorde regularly prints and installs custom vinyl window graphics for Cirque du Soleil, Joffrey Ballet, The American Writers Museum, and other downtown Chicago institutions. According to Sinkova, it’s Concorde’s commitment to fast turnaround, high-quality materials & exceptional customer care that keeps clients coming back.
From conception to completion, a project like Macy’s holiday windows takes 2-4 weeks, depending on the level of graphic design services required.
Concorde’s designers can help clients create custom graphics from scratch (4 weeks), or use existing art and work with clients to meet expectations on the printing & installation (2 weeks).
Area businesses looking to attract attention to their own storefront or digital platform can connect with Concorde’s production team online, or by calling 312-552-3006.
